Watch Common perform the first ever White House tiny desk concert
Common has taken part in the first ever White House tiny desk concert, teaming up with NPR to perform in the White House's library.

The long-running music series typically takes place behind the desk of NPR Musics own Bob Boilen. During the introduction for the White House performance, Boilen described Common as "pushing culture forward".

During his 20-minute set, Common included classic track 'I Used to Love H.E.R.' and also debuted three tracks from 'Black America Again' his upcoming 11th studio album.

His six-piece backing band boasted Grammy-winning jazz musicians Robert Glasper and Derrick Hodge, and on two of the four songs, Common was also joined by veteran R&B singer Bilal.

Boilen said that Common's performance was a convergence of art and soul, mixing politics with heart". He continued, "Commons choice of songs dealt with incarceration as the new slavery, imagined a time where women rule the world and honored the man he looked up to all his life, his father."

'Black America Again' is set to be released on November 4.

'Stranger Things' Upside-Down parallel universe could be real, says US government
The parallel universe from Stranger Things could be real, the US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz has surmised.

Hit Netflix show Stranger Things features a nightmarish parallel world called the Upside-Down.

Appearing on US TV's Chelsea talk show, Moniz was asked by host Chelsea Handler if the US government operates similarly to the Department Of Energy seen in the show, which is the centre of Upside-Down research activities.

"I can tell you first of all that Ive never see [the show], but I am aware of it," Moniz replied.

"Secondly, I believe this fictional [Department Of Energy] laboratory was operating in the 1980s, you can draw any inference you wish from that. Third, I would note that we do work in parallel universes."

Moniz went on to explain the science behind how parallel universes could exist before added that he "would not get carried away in terms of some of the other things that happen" in the show.

    Watch in the clip beneath.

Netflix recently confirmed that it has renewed Stranger Things for a second season, expected in 2017. Season two will feature nine episodes - one more than the first - with co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer returning alongside executive producer Dan Cohen.

The creators have also issued a casting call for women willing to cut their hair.

Kid Cudi checks into rehab for 'depression and suicidal urges'
Kid Cudi has revealed that he has entered a rehabilitation centre after suffering from "depression and suicidal urges".

The Cleveland rapper recently made headlines after calling out Drake and former mentor Kanye West in a series of tweets. Initially West described himself as "hurt", telling Cudi that he "birthed" him. However, Kanye later offered an olive branch to Cudi, calling him his "brother" and the "most influential artist of the past 10 years".

Now in a statement posted to Facebook, Cudi describes feeling "ashamed" about his struggles with depression, before promising to "be back, stronger, better".

Cudi writes: "It's been difficult for me to find the words to what I'm about to share with you because I feel ashamed. Ashamed to be a leader and hero to so many while admitting I've been living a lie. It took me a while to get to this place of commitment, but it is something I have to do for myself, my family, my best friend/daughter and all of you, my fans."

He continues: "Yesterday I checked myself into rehab for depression and suicidal urges. I am not at peace. I haven't been since you've known me. If I didn't come here, I would've done something to myself. I simply am a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions everyday of my life. Theres a raging violent storm inside of my heart at all times. [I don't know] what peace feels like. [I don't know] how to relax. My anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember and I never leave the house because of it. I cant make new friends because of it. I don't trust anyone because of it and I'm tired of being held back in my life. I deserve to have peace. I deserve to be happy and smiling."

"Love and light to everyone who has love for me and I am sorry if I let anyone down. I really am sorry. I'll be back, stronger, better. Reborn. I feel like shit, I feel so ashamed. I'm sorry."

Cudi left West's GOOD Music label in 2013, later accusing West of using his vocals on his Yeezus album without permission. However the pair reunited to work on Kanye's The Life Of Pablo record, released in February of this year.

In a 10-tweet rant last month, Cudi accused West of not writing his own music while also alleging that he and Drake turned their back on his career.

Russians hit out at Robbie Williams over 'shit' 'Party Like A Russian' video
Robbie Williams has courted controversy in Russia over his new single 'Party Like A Russian' and its accompanying music video.

The second song to be previewed from his forthcoming new album 'The Heavy Entertainment Show', 'Party Like A Russian' pays tribute to Russians' ability to party. The video sees Williams play a Russian oligarch at his mansion, surrounded by a troupe of female dancers.

Williams has said of the song: "Part of the British identity is that we all believe were the best at partying, most nations think that of themselves. But there aint no party like a Russian party (sorry S Club 7).

The Guardian notes that the video has become a talking point in Russia, with the country's state TV channel Vesti suggesting that the stunt was an attempt at boasting the singer's popularity, which "in recent years was becoming a memory rather than a reality".

Russian tabloid newspaper Life, meanwhile, held a round table discussion about the video, in which one individual described the video as "shit because it imparts the puny, vulgar Russian elite, which has nothing to do with aesthetics, beauty or romanticism".

It has also been suggested that Robbie Williams may not be invited to perform in Russia again. However, politician Maria Baronova has said that "todays elites are pleased with the depiction" of Russians in the video.

Williams recently denied reports that the song was influenced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

I love you Dan but this song is definitely not about Mr Putin xhttps://t.co/ViIACar1Z4— Robbie Williams (@robbiewilliams) September 30, 2016

Out on November 4, 'The Heavy Entertainment Show' features co-writes with Brandon Flowers, John Grant, Ed Sheeran and Williams' longtime writing partner Guy Chambers.

Williams told Beats 1 of the album: "I was musing over the phrase light entertainment - all the huge TV shows from when I was a kid, 30 million people watching them, this huge shared experience of these moments called light entertainment.

Sometimes it can be levelled at people in a bad way, but for me thats heavy entertainment. Thats what Im hoping to do with this album - to have a shared experience with millions of people through the medium of light entertainment, but on steroids.

Demi Lovato 'not apologising' for Taylor Swift diss
Demi Lovato has said that she is "still not apologising" for comments recently made about fellow pop singer Taylor Swift.

In an interview with Yahoo, Lovato accused Swift and her so-called "squad" of "tearing down Katy Perry" and promoting a "false body image".

Swift and Perry have a long alleged history of feuding, with it widely believed and disputed that Swift's song 'Bad Blood' was written about their ongoing row.

Lovato slammed the squad's behaviour and the impression they give to young women, saying: "This will probably get in trouble, but I don't see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It's kind of this false image of what people should look like."

    NME/Jordan Hughes

Alluding to the video for 'Bad Blood', she added: "I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that's not women's empowerment."

Now, taking to Twitter, Lovato has explained: "I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me." She went on to suggest that "words can be taken out of context when doing interviews" while also stating that she is "still not apologising".

Lovato later announced that she will take a break from music shortly, tweeting: "So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight.. I am not meant for this business and the media".

Watch The Rolling Stones preview new music in album trailer video
The Rolling Stones have shared another trailer video ahead of their widely-rumoured new album.

Earlier this week, the band's website was updated to include a short teaser video titled "The Rolling Stones - Coming October 6", showing footage apparently shot inside British Grove Studios, a recording complex in Chiswick, west London.

With the band's new album, thought to be a collection of covers of Chicago blues classics, expected this week, the group have previewed new music in another teaser clip posted to Twitter. Watch below.

    COMING OCTOBER 6 pic.twitter.com/c7XSocAIDK— The Rolling Stones (@RollingStones) October 4, 2016

It was reported in June that Eric Clapton and the Stones recently ran into each other at a west London recording studio and recorded two songs together with producer Don Was.

Don Was has told French publication Le Figaro that the Stones' new album "consists of covers of blue songs" and was recorded by the band in just three days. "The record sounds very crude, very authentic. It captures the essence of what they are," he is quoted as saying.

Ronnie Wood broke news that the Rolling Stones would begin recording a new album in December last year (2015).

Wood later revealed that the band went on "a blues streak" in the recording studio, covering standards by the likes of Howlin Wolf and Little Walter.

"They really sound authentic," Wood said of the band's new tracks in April. "We went in to cut some new songs, which we did. But we got on a blues streak. We cut 11 blues in two days& When we heard them back after not hearing them for a couple of months, we were, 'Whos that?' Its you. It sounded so authentic."

The Rolling Stones also played a surprise set for 1,200 truckers in Las Vagas this week (October 3).

Daft Punk rumoured for 2017 world tour as mysterious website appears
Rumours of a Daft Punk world tour have once again emerged, as a mysterious new website has appeared online.

Speculation first spread last month when Lollapalooza's website seemed to suggest that they'd be performing at the festival next year - leading others to argue that they're also likely to headline Glastonbury.

Now, a new website called 'Alive 2017' has appeared online. Daft Punk have two live albums called 'Alive 1997' and 'Alive 2007' named after their two tours, which seem to happen once a decade - adding to the theory that they'll continue the tradition and tour in 2017.

Not only that, but the website holds the hidden numbers '23' '05' '33' '22' - leading to many fan theories about what they might mean. As Genius reports, users on Reddit and tumblr have inspected the page's source code, to find numbers that appear to be coordinates for the locations of Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Ibiza and Indio.

It also contains the line WAKE DATE 2016-10-27, which is exactly one month after the site was created and suggests that there will either be an announcement or new music on 27 October.

The timing would fit with Daft Punk playing live every ten years, with their only previous tours having taken place in 1997 and 2007. There have been persistent rumours in the past two months that they will headline Glastonbury next year, 20 years after their only performance. It was earlier reported that the duo had been 'approached' to headline.

Daft Punk played the dance tent in 1997. On their visit to the UK and Ireland in 2007, the duo instead played shows at Wireless, Rockness and Oxegen festivals.

Other acts rumoured to be headlining Glastonbury include The Stone Roses, Radiohead, Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga.

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong explains why he wants 'pop-punk' to die
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has explained why he "hates" the term 'pop-punk' after saying that he wants to "destroy" it.

Armstrong's band gear up to release their 12th album 'Revolution Radio' on Friday (October 7). The record has been preceded by its title track, lead single 'Bang Bang' and the newly unveiled 'Still Breathing'.

In December of last year, Armstrong tweeted that his "mission for 2016" was to "destroy the phrase 'pop-punk' forever". See that tweet beneath.

Asked about this, Armstrong has told Kerrang!: "I've always hated the phrase 'pop-punk'. I think it's a contradiction in terms. Either you're punk, or you're not. [The tweet] was not directed at any of the band [described this way], it's just that it's too singular a term for my tastes."

"I come from a scene where every band was different from the others; it was all so diverse," Armstrong continued. "No two bands sounded the same. No-one was jumping on one particular sound. We were all different. Every good band was into what other good band were doing, and it didn't matter that these bands were very different from one another. In fact, it was important that we were different from one another."

"And now we have pop-punk. And I hate that phrase. It lacks diversity."

Metallica's Lars Ulrich might move back to Denmark if Donald Trump becomes US President
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has indicated that he would consider moving back to his native country of Denmark if Donald Trump is elected as US President.

Ulrich was born in Gentofte, Denmark in 1963 and moved to Los Angeles at the age of sixteen before joining the metal band.

Speaking with Denmark's Ekstra Bladet, Ulrich said: "I am a hundred percent Danish citizen, I pay taxes in the USA but I can't vote in America."

Meanwhile, The White Stripes have publicly condemned Republican presidential candidate Trump. The band's song 'Seven Nation Army' was used in a promotional video for Donald Trump, which led Jack and Meg White to issue a rare joint statement.

Speaking in a statement issued through Third Man Records, the band said: "Regarding the use of Seven Nation Army in a Donald Trump campaign video, The White Stripes would like to unequivocally state that they have nothing whatsoever to do with this video. They are disgusted by this association, and by the illegal use of their song."

Liam Gallagher: 'Oasis did in three years what took The Beatles eight'
Liam Gallagher has again compared Oasis to The Beatles, saying that the band achieved the same level of success and impact but in a much quicker time.

The former Beady Eye frontman was interviewed in Little White Lies by Mat Whitecross, director of the new Oasis documentary Supersonic.

When Whitecross mentions how Oasis went from being signed to headlining Knebworth in just three years, Gallagher replied: "What we did in three took the Beatles eight. Good, yknow, fuckin rightly so. I thought we were the bollocks and I thought wed be doing that all over the world.

"I thought America would buy it, everyone would buy it& But that my friend is cocaine for you."

When asked why Oasis didn't crack America with as much success as they did the rest of the world, Gallagher replied: "I dont know man, they like all the razzmatazz dont they and we werent given them any of that. They thought we were cunts and they didnt know how to handle us so it was move along boys yknow what I mean.

"But Im fuckin glad about it. We couldve gone over there and married an American actress and got a house in Malibu and started wearing biker jackets and pointy shoes and all that shit."

The film received its premiere on Sunday, accompanied by a live Q&A with Liam, former guitarist Bonehead and director Mat Whitecross.

Last week saw bookmakers slash the odds of Oasis reforming to tour in 2017 while Bonehead added that he'd "be there like a shot" if a reunion seemed likely.

Meanwhile, Liam is set to release his debut solo album soon, adding that it will 'put a few people in their place'.

Preview Lady Gaga's David Bowie-inspired new song 'Just Another Day'
Lady Gaga has previewed a new song inspired by David Bowie.

The singer releases new album 'Joanne' on October 21. She recently released its lead single 'Perfect Illusion'.

Gaga offered a brief performance of new song 'Just Another Day' on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this week. The track will feature on the deluxe edition of 'Joanne'.

"It's probably the most New York-glam-pop song on the album," she explained. "Its the one that heirs from [David] Bowie and Marc Bolan [of T Rex] and then maybe from some obscure London metal stuff, the Beatles. It also kind of airs from the electroclash movement from New York and that's kind of when I started coming up, was right after that."

Listen to the song at the 11:30 mark below.

Lady Gaga has confirmed that she will preview new album tracks at a series of shows at low-key bar venues this month (October).

The first gig will take place today (October 5) at an undisclosed location. She will play new song 'Million Reasons', as well as lead single 'Perfect Illusion' at the gig, which will stream on Bud Light's Facebook page.

Additional shows will follow on October 20 and 27, although the setlists for those gigs are not yet known.

From all of them. Democrats, Republicans, I have a lot of conflicting feelings about all of them, to be politically correct. I need more time to figure out if what theyre saying can pass through and is actually feasible. Not just with Donald Trump but with Democratic potential candidates."

Robbie Williams apologises for saying he had sex with 'four out of five' Spice Girls
Robbie Williams has apologised for saying that he had slept with four members of The Spice Girls.

The former Take That member, who has made a controversial comeback with new single 'Party Like A Russian', was rumoured to have dated Geri Halliwell in 2001.

Speaking on Australian radio's Nova 96.9, Williams retracted previous claims that he had sex with "four out of five" members of the girl group.

"I told a joke a long time ago and it sort of got out of hand," he said. "On one particular [Take That] tour before ['Back For Good'] I introduced it by saying 'I am very fortunate to have been in Take That and 4 out of 5 of the Spice Girls.' That was my intro to the song and it was a joke and the joke went too far."

"I would like to apologise to all the Spice Girls involved and their husbands and boyfriends. I know a few husbands and boyfriends weren't too happy with the joke," he added.

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong talks about his kids' music
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has spoken about his children making music.

Armstrong's teen son Jakob Armstrong goes by the name Jakob Danger, while Jakob's older brother Joey is also a musician and plays drums in the band Swmrs.

While Jakob previously told NME that he is more inspired by The Strokes than his father's band, Billie Joe has told Beats 1 of his kids' musical efforts: "Im a fan of their music. I think Jacob is a great songwriter. It blew me away when he wrote 'King of the World', I was like wow. I didnt know he had it in him. Hes not the most talkative guy in the world, which is like talk about virtue. Hes mixing it up and playing in these great punk venues."

"And then Swmrs, Joey is an unbelievable drummer, he really has honed in his craft. Just everyday hes getting better and better and he loves anyone from [The Who drummer] Keith Moon to Questlove [of The Roots], some of his favourites. But like [Swmrs frontman] Cole Becker as a songwriter, I mean hes an original. They just got weird. They came out totally rocking and sound like yeah its seamless. I wouldn't be talking about them right now. Im really proud of them, Im proud of both of them theyre great."

    Ed Miles/NME

Jakob Danger is signed to California label Burger Records (home of Fidlar, Thee Oh Sees and more).

Speaking to NME, Armstrong said: "My two favourite bands are The Strokes and Beach Fossils those are my two biggest influences. When it comes to the music and the guitar parts and bass, I like that style of music. I love the way The Strokes and Beach Fossils sound, so I wanted to see if I could write songs like that."

Despite following in the footsteps of his father, Armstrong insists that he sounds nothing like the pop-punk band. "My music is not at all related to my father," he claims. "Its my own personal thing. I dont really worry too much about that. I just think: this is my music, its different from my fathers, and if people want to listen to it, they can."

"If people say I sound like my dad, then its probably just because Im his son. Thats just how it works, I guess. Its my voice. Its how I sing. Ive never taken singing lessons before or anything its natural!"

Explaining his moniker, Armstrong also revealed that Danger is his actual middle name. "Thats why I chose to go by that I think it sounds pretty cool."

Gerard Way: 'Voting has never been so extremely vital'
Gerard Way has spoken out with a lengthy plea to urge US citizens to take part in the upcoming election, saying that 'voting has been so extremely vital'.

The former My Chemical Romance turned solo star took to his 'Morning Pages' blog on his official website to open up about Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton's race to become President.

"I'm almost 40 and I can't remember a time in my life where voting felt so extremely vital," he said. "I, like many people, used to feel that voting didn't matter, but I've come around on it. I basically said to myself, 'Let's say that you are 99% right that voting doesn't matter, but there is the 1% chance you are wrong&'.

"I'm voting for the 1% chance that I was wrong back in the day. I'm voting because we must do what we can. In fact, sometimes, all you have is your vote. Sure, you can be involved in other ways, like writing your elected officials, protesting, petitions, and things of that nature - and they do work sometimes, as weve just seen with the DEA temporarily lifting a ban on a plant that helps people that are addicted to opioids wean themselves off."

He went on to slam politicians and government officials for allowing themselves to be corrupted by pharmaceutical companies.

"This is a step in the right direction, at least for now, and maybe one day the DEA will finally break the cycle of representing the best interests of Big Pharma, as a growing number of people are becoming hip to that which has been going on for many years," Way wrote. "Too many people are gripped in the powerful hold of prescription painkillers, and we need to seek every alternative option as the corporations continue to lobby for getting more pills in our hands. Our pain makes them rich, so they see no reason to stop. And my heart goes out to people who are caught in this situation."

Way went on to urge all US citizens to make the most of democracy in any form they could, adding: "In my opinion, I feel it comes down to the vote you are allowed. And we are allowed to vote in other ways other than politically. Disagree with some form of entertainment? You can vote by not throwing money at it. Want to see something succeed? You can do the opposite, and say it with the funds you are allowed. Vocal support can be helpful at times, but with the way the world works, the only thing the powers that be seem to understand is either cash or votes. That has been my understanding from taking note of how things do actually change over time. We need to put the right people in office. We need to support the teams and artists that speak to us.

"So voting is important, and I urge you to do it. If you think it doesn't matter, just do it for the 1% chance you might be wrong."

Fans recently reacted with disappointment after an announcement from My Chemical Romance turned out to be the reissue of 'The Black Parade' to celebrate the album's 10th anniversary - which falls later this month.

Meanwhile, Gerard Way is said to be working on his second solo album, the follow-up to 'Hesitant Alien'.

Bros reunite for 2017 comeback show
Eighties boyband Bros have reunited to play a huge UK show.

The group's two most famous members - twins Matt and Luke Goss - will team up again to headline Londons 02 Arena on August 19, 2017. Tickets go on general sale at 11am on October 7.

Bros formed in 1987 and are mostly known for their huge hit 'When Will I Be Famous?'. Their last gig together was in 1989 when they played in front of 77,000 people at the old Wembley Stadium.

"The most memorable moments for me in Bros so far is Wembley Stadium and without question our final global tour," Matt Goss says.

"Both of these experiences were just with Luke and myself. As the lead singer of the band, my musical connection has always been with Luke. Bros is Matt and Luke."

"Bros has been part of my life for 30 years," Luke Goss said. "Im deeply proud of it. Our biggest show was at Wembley Stadium, Bros Into Summer, it was just Matt and I so I feel comfortable saying with great pride that Matt and I are Bros."

Founding bassist Craig Logan quit in 1989. Logan was popularly known as Ken at the time after Viz constantly spoofed him supposedly being the anonymous member of the band.

After Logan's departure, Bros released the album 'Changing Faces' in 1991 before splitting the following year.

Since the split, Matt Goss has gone on to become a successful swing-style singer in the US, where has a residency in Las Vegas. He has played in the UK more rarely, but played a one-off solo show at Wembley Arena on October 1.

Drummer Luke Goss has mainly focused on acting, appearing in films including Tekken and Interview With A Hitman. The brothers have enjoyed a friendly relationship for some time, with their professional reunion having been rumoured for several years.

Betting suspended on Oasis 2017 reunion
Betting has been suspended on a possible Oasis reunion taking place in 2017.

The Britpop band split in 2009, with rumours of the group reuniting circulating ever since. Last week saw bookmakers slash the odds of Oasis reforming while former guitarist Bonehead added that he'd "be there like a shot" if a reunion seemed likely.

Now bookmakers Betway have suspended all bets on a 2017 Oasis reunion. The company's Alan Alger has said of the decision: "Our traders were put on red alert after a significant number of maximum stake bets at 5/4 for Oasis to reunite in 2017 were placed. Its a niche market to bet on, so it was immediately flagged up and the decision to suspend any further betting on the band getting back together was taken."

"If the betting activity has come from sources in the know, then it would seem we could well be on for an Oasis reunion next year. Well now just have to wait and see, and Im sure there will be millions of fans with their fingers crossed!"

Liam Gallagher recently "held the olive branch out" to brother Noel Gallagher, saying that he wants to repair the relationship with his elder sibling and former Oasis bandmate for the sake of their mother.

Liam said: "Obviously [our mum would] like us to be chatting, sit around the table at Christmas. But its a stupid standoff, and we should know better, as we have kids. It would be nice for me and [Noel] to get back together as brothers. But its good, the standoff. Im enjoying it. I aint backing down. He aint backing down."

Meanwhile, Liam has again compared Oasis to The Beatles, saying that the band achieved the same level of success and impact but in a much quicker time.

Interviewed in Little White Lies by Mat Whitecross, director of the new Oasis documentary Supersonic, Whitecross mentioned how Oasis went from being signed to headlining Knebworth in just three years, Gallagher replied: "What we did in three took the Beatles eight. Good, yknow, fuckin rightly so. I thought we were the bollocks and I thought wed be doing that all over the world."

"I thought America would buy it, everyone would buy it& But that my friend is cocaine for you," he said.

Sharks like listening to AC/DC and heavy metal music, says new book
Sharks enjoy listening to heavy metal bands, according to a new book which looks at the science behind animals' relationship with music.

Great white sharks are particularly receptive to AC/DC anthems like 'You Shook Me All Night Long' and 'If You Want Blood (You Got It)', reports Team Rock after reading the book, which is titled The Mice Who Sing For Sex: And Other Weird Tales From The World Of Science.

Sharks don't actually have ears, but the book's co-authors, Radio X presenter Lliana Bird and neuroscientist Dr Jack Lewis, say they are drawn to the low frequency pulsing sounds prevalent in heavy metal songs.

Matt Waller, a chartered boat operator in Southern Australia, first noticed in 2011 that sharks behaved in a much calmer manner when played heavy metal music.

He told Australian news outlet ABC News at the time: "I was talking to a guy who had been diving in Guadeloupe and there were some divers there who just been playing music in the water. We got talking and they said there were some certain songs that saw an actual change in the behaviour of the sharks."

He continued: "I started going through my albums and AC/DC was something that really hit the mark. Their behaviour was more investigative, more inquisitive and a lot less aggressive. They actually came past on a couple of occasions when we had the speaker in the water and rubbed their face along the speaker which was really bizarre."

AC/DC's Brian Johnson could resume performing in six months, claim hearing technology experts
AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson could perform live with the band again "within six months", according to hearing experts Asius.

Johnson has been unable to fulfil live commitments with the long-running rock band after he was ordered by doctors in March to stop touring or face permanent hearing loss. He was replaced by Guns 'n Roses frontman Axl Rose for the band's recent 'Rock Or Bust' world tour.

However, as Team Rock reports, there is now new hope that Johnson could perform live with AC/DC again, possibly within six months.

Hearing aid developers Asius have been in contact with the 68-year-old about how they could assist the singer in returning to the stage, and the Colorado-based company are now set to meet with Johnson again to let him test a prototype that could help protect his hearing in the live arena.

Speaking about the prototype, Asius' Chief Scientist Stephen Ambrose was hopeful that his company's new development could be the answer.

"I wouldn't be surprised if we have something that Brian, and other people, can use to return to the stage without any threat of damage to his hearing within the next six to 12 months," Ambrose said. "I will endeavour to kick up the development of the technology another 10 notches, at which point I expect to get the green light from Brian's doctors to test the prototype with him.

"We need to know he can test it without further damaging his hearing. And I expect those tests will go very successfully."

Ambrose has also praised Johnson's willingness to test his company's products, stating that it would help attract the valuable funding required for Asius to continue developing their line of technology.

"Having Brian Johnson involved has helped us get the support of a lot of major companies support that wouldn't have been there without him. Brian was excited by the technology and he said it worked. He said he just couldn't wait to test a 'miniaturised' version of the prototype and now we're almost ready to test that with him.

"Brian is not just doing this for himself but for everyone else who needs help. We aim to make our technology available at a price point that people can afford."

If Johnson does return to touring with AC/DC, it won't be with long-serving bassist Cliff Williams - he retired earlier this month at the conclusion of their aforementioned world tour.

Watch Danny DeVito compare "clown act" Boris Johnson to Donald Trump
Veteran American actor Danny DeVito has compared the UK's Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, to controversial Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

While discussing politics with Chris Moyles on his Radio X show, DeVito said that the staunchly pro-Brexit Tory MP was "cut from the same cloth" as Hillary Clinton's rival for the US Presidency.

"Look, we're all kind of messed up with the whole thing," DeVito told Moyles. "You guys are in turmoil: you're in deep, deep trouble. We don't have a single person to rely on. Basically, if you look at it, you look at the clown act on one side Donald. It's just that he's very self-centered and into his own thing - he does what he does very well, which is to alienate. I don't know about his personal life, his friends; I know his family seem to be standing by him."

DeVito continued: "It's like Boris - you've got the guy, your 'Head&' what is he? He represents you in the world?"

When Moyles confirmed that Johnson is the UK's Foreign Secretary, DeVito replied: "Yes, that's right. They're cut from the same cloth." Watch a clip of DeVito discussing Trump and Johnson with Moyles below.

Watch the first video tour of Prince's Paisley Park residence
Prince's Paisley Park has opened its doors for the first time to give a glimpse of its new status as a music museum.

The late artist, who died back in April, always intended for the compound - where he lived and recorded after its construction in 1988 - to be transformed into a museum once he passed away, leaving behind guidelines on such aspects as how he wanted visitors to walk through Paisley Park during the tour.

And while the opening of the new museum to the public was delayed yesterday (October 4), members of Prince's family exclusively invited NBC News' Today programme for a first look around Paisley Park a day before its new opening date.

Presenter Al Roker was permitted access to Prince's recording studios, where handwritten notes by the musician have been left untouched since his passing, the 'Purple Rain Room' (containing memorabilia from the film and album of the same name) and the 'NPG Music Club', where Prince entertained friends and guests.

Sum 41's Deryck Whibley on battling alcoholism: "I thought I was turning schizophrenic"
Sum 41's Deryck Whibley has spoken candidly about his battle to beat alcohol addiction.

The frontman was diagnosed with liver failure following years of alcohol abuse in 2014, when he thanked the band's fans for their support after sharing several disturbing pictures of himself looking worryingly thin and then recovering in hospital.

Sober ever since, Whibley and Sum 41 are preparing to release their new album '13 Voices' this Friday (October 7). Discussing his experience of overcoming addiction with Canoe, the singer replied: "It was just sort of a very uncertain time. A lot of insecurities. I actually thought I was going crazy at one point. I thought I was turning schizophrenic or something."

"I had so much chaos and so much noise in my head," he continued. "Everything was a question, which is where the term '13 Voices' came from."

Whibley also said that he actually gets more enjoyment from playing live with Sum 41 now that he longer drinks. "I feel it more. You notice it more. And what I also notice more is the audience reaction. You see it," he explained.

"But when you're drunk you don't really think about it. When you're sober you can see the emotion, someone singing back lyrics, not because they know them but because it meant something to them at a certain point in your life."

Benedict Cumberbatch says a section of his fanbase are "obsessive, deluded and really scary"
Benedict Cumberbatch has discussed his fervent fanbase in a new interview, likening a section of his online following to stalkers who display "obsessive, deluded [and] really scary behaviour."

The actor will star as the Sorcerer Supreme in the new Marvel film Doctor Strange, which is released next month. Cumberbatch shot to worldwide fame off the back of his leading role in the BBC series Sherlock, which began in 2010 and will return with a fourth season on January 1, 2017.

In a new and candid interview with Vanity Fair, Cumberbatch spoke about the darker side of his mass following online, including those who publish conspiracy theories about his personal life.

There are people who believe that my wife is a P.R. stunt and my child is a P.R. stunt, Cumberbatch said. I think really its to do with the idea that the Internets boyfriend cant actually belong to anyone else but the Internet. Its impossible he belongs to anyone but me. And thats what stalking is. Thats what obsessive, deluded, really scary behaviour is.

As well as the lengthy interview, Cumberbatch also recorded a piece for the magazine performing a magic trick. Watch the video below.

'Suicide Squad' extended cut could feature much more of Jared Leto's Joker
The extended cut of Suicide Squad released on digital HD next month will feature an additional 13 minutes of footage, Warner Bros. has confirmed.

Fans disappointed by the poorly-received blockbuster are already speculating that the extended cut, which will drop on digital HD on November 28 before getting a Blu-ray release on December 5, could feature more of Jared Leto's Joker.

Leto's character is a peripheral feature for much of the movie that played in cinemas over the summer, but the actor has revealed that he shot lots of footage which director David Ayer and the film's producers ultimately decided not to use.

"I understand [this Suicide Squad film] is a bit of an introduction to The Joker. It's more of a supporting part than it could have been, had they used everything but there's a method to [the filmmakers] madness," he told NME in August.

One moviegoer was so frustrated by the lack of Leto in the Suicide Squad theatrical release that he even threatened to sue Warner Bros. for false advertising.

Warner Bros.' teaser for the extended cut seems to hint at a possible fuller role for Leto's Joker, as well as more of Margot Robbie's standout character Harley Quinn - watch below.

Drake postpones tour dates "under doctor's orders"
Drake has postponed a trio of upcoming shows on his Summer Sixteen Tour, which has been running since July.

Gigs in Philadelphia, Newark and his hometown of Toronto will be rescheduled to give the musician's injured ankle a chance to recover, he told fans regretfully.

"We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night," Drake wrote on his October's Very Own blog.

Watch Olivia Newton-John share her true thoughts on 'Grease 2'
Olivia Newton-John has given a blunt but damning verdict on Grease 2.

The original 1978 Grease film starring Newton-John and John Travolta became a huge pop culture phenomenon whose soundtrack was the year's second best-selling album.

It remains massively popular today, with a fan theory suggesting that the film's lead characters were dead for the most of the movie gaining traction on Reddit just last month (September).

Both actors declined to return for the poorly-received 1982 sequel, which instead starred Maxwell Caulfield and a young Michelle Pfeiffer, and flopped spectacularly at the box office. Grease 2 has since been embraced as something of a kitsch cult classic, perhaps partly because of its poor reception at the time, but few movie fans would deny it's a vastly inferior film to the original.

Asked what she thinks of the follow-up during an appearance on Andy Cohen's US chat show, Newton-John replied simply: "Not a lot."

"They did ask us," Newton-John continued, confirming she had been offered a chance to return as Sandy Olsson. "I think they approached John and I to do it, and it didn't happen, and I didn't think it was gonna happen, and then they made it with other people. So that's my memory of it." Watch her discussing the ill-fated sequel below.

In August, it was reported that the band's new album could be nearing completion when the band's regular collaborator George Salisbury (who works with them on their music videos, artwork and live projections) posted an Instagram story captioned "Gettin' close!!!!".

The Story showed artwork on a computer screen followed by a series of files labelled "The Flaming Lips Oczy Mlody", suggesting the band's new album could be titled 'Oczy Mlody'. Check out the Instagram story below courtesy of The Future Heart.

The Flaming Lips released their last album of original material, 'The Terror', in 2013. The following year they returned with an album of Beatles covers called 'With A Little Help from My Fwends'. They also collaborated with Miley Cyrus extensively on her surprise 2015 album 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz'.

Earlier this year they released a cover of David Bowie's 'Space Oddity' in the late musician's honour. They also performed their cover of 'Space Oddity' on Stephen Colbert's US chat show, joined by Star Wars favourite Chewbacca.
