Memes to Gulp Down With the Morning Coffee

The beginning of the day often seems to be the greatest indicator of how the rest of it will go. At least, it certainly feels that way if it starts off badly. There's a reason that getting out of the wrong side of bed is such a well-known phenomenon, and that's because getting a knock to our pride or confidence when we're barely awake yet is a surefire way to keep us from reaching our full potential.

It's no wonder that the Type A personalities among us place so much emphasis on having a structured morning routine. There's no denying that the feeling of fitting in a workout, a nutritious breakfast, and a few important emails before 9am is an amazingly smug feeling. Not everything in the perfect morning has to be virtuous, though. We have to make some time for pleasure, and a list of memes does just that. Let's make this a decent Wednesday.

Weekly Treat of Cat Memes for Feline Fanatics (October 11, 2023)

Miserable is the person who doesn't have any space in their heart for cat memes. Even if our feline friends are not your favorite animal, it can't be denied that they are incredibly versatile and amusing when paired up with the ridiculousness of the internet. If animals had the ability to be terminally online, cats would be the species with the most hours of screentime. They just pair perfectly with everything that memes stand for.

As if that wasn't enough, we can rely on cats to bring a true sense of emotional range to the silly pictures that we like to look at. From relatable to just plain goofy, there really is a cat meme for every kind of occasion. There are only so many genres of meme that we can say that about, even at this point. Cat lover or not, that's a good enough reason to honor them by looking at some more feline memes.

The Cringiest Dating App Encounters This Week (October 11, 2023)

Yet another depressing aspect of modern day dating is how transactional the whole thing can be. It seems like every other singleton is obsessed with the traits possessed by "high value" women or men, or insist on asking the dreaded first date question "so, what do you bring to the table?". While I am the number one advocate of having high personal standards for yourself, from my perspective most of it boils down to just trying to be a decent person. A regular texter with a six figure salary is only a worthwhile catch when they have the level of emotional maturity to match.

If dating apps are anything to go by, those who are capable of being decent and mature are few and far between. Their whole human meat market schtick is what helped to popularize love as a transaction, too. It might be the easiest way to meet a partner these days, but you're never more than a couple of misguided swipes away from situations like the ones below.

The Best Gaming Memes of the Week (October 11, 2023)

Welcome back, gamers. It's Wednesday, my dudes, and you know what that meansthe best gaming memes of the week. But we thought we might try something a little different this timegaming memes with a nostalgic twist for all the millennials out there. Yes, you've probably seen these memes before, but sometimes it's transportive to enjoy some vintage memes. They're like a fine wine that awaken memories of those salad days of gaming. Remember how simple life used to be? That time before social media and streamers? Where you could go to a LAN party without worrying about your epic fail ending up on some Reddit thread or YouTube channel dedicated to roasting unskilled gamers? Those were the days.

But anyway, I'm getting off topic. You're here for dank gaming memes, and that's exactly what we're delivering. We've got a nice blend of memes both fresh and aged like a fine wine. Enjoy.

Irate Woman Insists on Throwing Out Roommate's Beloved Sprouting Potato, Twitter Jumps to its Defens

There are few things more ridiculous than the petty domestic disputes between two people that live together. Many of the topics you end up fighting about look way blown out of proportion to anyone on the outside. Still, it can be hard to feel like a house is a home when dealing with this stuff. It's important to get on top of it.

Some of the biggest arguments revolve around the kitchen. Countless roomies have suffered at the hands of a food stealer or dirty dish avoider before, but I'm not sure how many could claim to have dealt with an attachment to a tuber. When one Twitter user complained that the guy she lived with was refusing to throw out a sprouting sweet potato. Insisting she was putting in the garbage sooner rather than later, numerous individuals tried to protect it from her wrath. Maybe it would be less of a problem if he decided to plant it.

25+ Star Wars Memes for Users of The Force (October 11, 2023)

The other day I saw someone covered head to toe in Star Wars tattoos and it was quite something. Don't get me wrong, I like the Star Wars movies, but I can't imagine ever being that intensely dedicated to a movie franchise. I wouldn't even tattoo my soulmate's name on my body, let alone a huge, realistic portrait of Yoda. But hey, to each their own. Let people enjoy things, right?

Whether you're a Star Wars super fan whose whole identity has been directly shaped by what happened on Tatooine long ago in a galaxy far, far away, or whether you're just a casual enjoyer who might go to a nostalgia screening of the original trilogy but wouldn't be caught dead waiting in line while in costume, we've got lots of hilarious Star Wars memes for obsessives and casuals alike. Just remember to check in next week for even more dank Star Wars memes!

20+ Paleontology Memes for Fossil Fans

It's a fact that most of us have heard before, but it never ceases to be any less mind blowing: modern Homo Sapiens have only been around for about 160,000 years. That's less than 0.004% of the time that we think Earth has existed for. Us human beings love to act like we own the place, but we're mere guests even at this point.

While they may be long gone, all the dinosaurs and other prehistoric species have a much better claim to being long term inhabitants of this planet. Studying them is so fascinating precisely because of this, and the fact that the main record we have of them is the bones that they left behind. Every nerdy four year old has a not insignificant chance of developing a fascination with paleontology, and that's part of what makes it so great. Plus, it inspires a lot of humorous memes.

The Funniest Star Trek Memes of the Week (October 11, 2023)

When iconic characters must be recast for a new generation, they don't often look identical to their original actors. If every James Bond had the exact same face, that would be a little weird. I, for one, am glad that Timothee Chalamet, Johnny Depp, and Gene Wilder are not perfectly identical. I am, however, so glad that Zachary Quinto was genetically blessed to look so much like Leonard Nimoy. Maybe this is because I haven't watched the entirety of the original Star Trek series, but watching Quinto as Doctor Spock on the big screen during Star Trek Into Darkness felt like it could have been CGI bringing Nimoy back to his younger years; it looked that good. I also am a fan of Ethan Peck, but nothing compared to seeing the first new actor playing Spock after Nimoy's retirement. If you stan Doctor Spock in any of his incarnations, these Star Trek memes might rock your world.

Women Discuss Common Parenting Mistakes Dads Make When Raising Daughters

It must be utterly terrifying to be a parent, knowing that anything you say or do (no matter how seemingly trivial at the time) has the potential to mess up your kid enough that they bring it up in therapy some day as an adult. Dads raising daughters opens up a whole other can of worms of potential parenting fails. In my own personal experience, I always felt like my dad had trouble relating to me and my sister when we were little. He often did stereotypical 'boy' things with us, not because he was making some sort of statement about treating girls and boys the same, but because he had no idea what a little girl would even be into. Luckily for him, we loved outdoor activities, LEGO, action figures, video games, sporting events, and even enjoyed the times he made us go to the golf driving range with him. But when it came to our experiences and emotions that were nuanced by girlhood, my dad didn't really even try to understandhe left that stuff up to my mom. I don't blame him at all, but I wonder sometimes if it was a mistake on his partmaybe he could have learned something about girls.

A curious dad recently hopped on to r/askreddit to get some insight straight from the daughters of Reddit. Keep scrolling for the best responses.

Arctic Residents Share Outrageous Grocery Prices, Paying $47 For 4 Pieces of Chicken

How much you pay for groceries can often depend on where you live. We can scrimp and save as much as we want to, but if you live in NYC, there's no way you're not paying more for groceries than someone from Nebraska. That is unless you live in a super rural area of Nebraska, and in that case, you might be paying way more than you should for basic foodstuffs. I wish that we could all be paying Aldi prices at every grocery store, but that, unfortunately, cannot be. Whether we like it or not, supply and demand continue to exist, and when the supply is low, the prices shoot up.

A couple who live in one of the northernmost regions of Canada recently went viral after sharing the grocery prices at their "relatively cheap for the region" grocery store. I, like many others, am hoping they pay a buffalo nickel in rent because these are the highest grocery prices I've ever seen, Canadian currency or not.

20+ Fresh Sneaker Head Memes for Kicks Extraordinaires into the Drip

If you're a sneaker head then you get it. It's an entire subculture, sneaker heads practically have their own language. We're talking about having the drip, avoiding the crease, and gettin' your kicks no matter what it takes. These aren't your every day collectors collecting silly little things they'll never use. Oh no. This is a fashion choice that demands complete commitment. You're not just collecting and keeping up-to-date o the latest sneaks, but you're also wearing them out in the wild and defending them from the elements. God forbid it rains when you wear your new Jordans! Like is fine, but it's better when you're in sneakers. We don't make the rules, we just follow them. If you're a sneaker head, then we relate. There's nothing like getting them fresh kicks, opening the box to that new shoes smell. Oh lord, life is at its best when you're looking that fresh.

Memes That Feel Like They're Straight Out of a Dream

I think discussing dreams is quite fun. I know that some people think it's boring to discuss the weird situations we perceive when we're sleeping. "When my brain was processing the detritus of the day, something weird happened. Isn't that funny?" I might be in the minority, but I not only like telling people about my dreams but also listening to the dreams of others. In college, my roommates and I would start the day by telling each other about our dreams, and I think that's just beautiful.

I don't have recurring dreams per se, but I do often return to the same locations in my dreams that feel so eerily real. There's this shopping mall that I've dreamed of so vividly, and if I ever saw something like it in real life, I would freak out. If you want to dream with your eyes open, then these funny memes can help you to return to some of the places you've been to when your consciousness has been put on pause
