Phil Collins is said to be on the verge of announcing his live comeback, 15 years after he played his last major solo shows.
Collins retired from playing live in 2002, citing injuries to his back and arms caused by years of playing drums. He went on a brief reunion tour with Genesis in 2007, but has since been absent from performing concerts.
However, a report on eFestivals says that Collins is rumoured to be on the verge of announcing headline shows at Isle Of Wight Festival and Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time at Londons Hyde Park. Collins live promoter John Giddings is the organiser of Isle Of Wight Festival.
There is no word as to whether the report is correct, though past eFestivals stories have been right when they tipped Kasabian and Metallica to headline Glastonbury in 2014 long before they were officially confirmed.
Collins announced in October 2015 that he was coming out of retirement to play shows. He said that his sons Nicholas and Matthew were aged 14 and 10, and wanted to see their father play shows. Collins commented: They were in nappies when I was last on the road. They love my music, and Id love to take them out on the road.
Since that announcement, Collins has only performed at a handful of charity shows. His last album of new music was Testify in 2002, when he announced he was retiring before the albums accompanying tour, which was called My First Farewell Tour.
Isle Of Wight Festival has yet to announce any acts for its 2017 line-up, having recently become embroiled in a row over staging fees at its current home at Seaclose Park. Hyde Park has announced that Green Day will headline on July 1.
Collins releases his autobiography, Not Dead Yet, next week (October 20).
