32 Memes That Motivate For the Week Ahead

Is Monday the most infamous day of the week? While the traditional work calendar dictates that Wednesday is the hump and Friday is sweet, temporary freedom, it's Monday that gets the most press simply for kicking off another seven days of whatever life chooses to throw at us.

That can be an intimidating prospect, even when it's something that you've done literally thousands of times before. It's like an arbitrary pressing of all our built in reset buttons, but without making any of our anxieties or issues magically go away. It seems more than a little unfair.

There is no way to make the start of the week feel like the best thing in the world, but there are ways to mitigate the misery. For anyone reading this, it's likely that memes are part of that package. Take a gander at the ones we have below, and hopefully they'll give a welcome distraction.

The Best Relatable Work Memes This Week (October 16, 2023)

We're fast approaching a particularly magical time of the year: the time when it's dark outside when we start work, and dark again when we finish. It's like society really wants to punish every single seasonal depression sufferer. As if we don't have enough to be depressed about already. If we were to honestly survey the working population, the amount that dislike their jobs all year round would probably be pretty high.

It's not that work is a terrible thing. Many different fields provide necessary services. However, the way in which we work is something that tends to leave everybody but the richest in a state of burnout and/or apathy. It's a blessing that we have the world of memes to give a voice to all our job-based woes, because many don't have the energy or inclination for anything else. They're not the only form of relief that we have, though.

The Cringiest Parenting Posts of the Week (October 16, 2023)

If one group of people dominates Facebook, it's the moms. For at least the past ten years, Facebook has been a breeding ground for many things, but moms connecting with people from their past has got to be #1. I can't imagine having no way to contact so many people from my past just to get a website where you can find anyone from your middle school boyfriend to your least favorite professor! If I want to find someone from my past, I can look up their Instagram and pray it isn't private. When my mom was in her twenties, there was nothing of the sort.

I understand why Gen Xers and the generations following and preceding them love Facebook. However, not all of them use it for good. Some use it for evil, but most use it for some form of cringe. These are the cringiest parenting posts we've found this week.

Amazon Delivery Driver Calls Out Entitled Customer Requesting He "Do Something Silly" in Front of Ri

In a little over a decade, many of us have become hopelessly dependent on the gig economy. We order our takeout on DoorDash, travel from A to B in Ubers, and get entire grocery shops delivered straight to our door. The catch is that those who provide these services to us are usually underpaid and overworked, as well as struggling in a system that some would argue encourages disrespect. Our convenience comes at a price, and often we don't even realize it.

When one Amazon driver took to Twitter to complain about an audacious delivery note that he received, it was hard to tell whether the customer was being ignorant, or just plain rude. Demanding that the worker did "something silly" in front of his Ring doorbell when he delivered the package, his justification was that it was for the entertainment of his young son.

It's fair to say that a lot of people on the internet were not impressed with this request. Would it have been more or less insulting if a tip had been offered as well?

'OP isnt feeling 22': Swifties hilariously troll Redditor who 'doesn't understand the Taylor Swift

As part of a human in a human society, you understand that everybody is unique and has different opinions on things and not everyone is going to like the same things as you. However, we are also a pack-mentality kind of species, so it's also common to want to enjoy the same things that everyone else is. Hence, popular activities, places, and, of course, celebrities.

For example, Taylor Swift. It's not crazy that she has a huge fanbase (known as "Swifties")she curated an inclusive atmosphere that catered to some of the basic wants and needs and thus a lot of people could relate. Plus, her songs are in the classic pop format that people tend to go crazy for.

That being said, that does not mean that Taylor Swift is everyone's thing. One person who is in this demographic took to Reddit to get some help in trying to jump on board the "Taylor Swift phenomenon" because they just didn't get it. The comment section quickly got flooded with hilarious Swifty trolls answering in Swifty puns. There were, however, several sincere responses as well, but the puns are perfectly hilarious for any Swift fan. We added our favorite puns (and sincere responses) below!

Student Memes For High Schoolers Trying to Survive Monday

Ah, high school. It's the worst time in a person's life, and yet Hollywood wants to make the most movies about it. When you're in it, you can't even tell how bad it is. Your emotions are out of control, but no more out of control than they've been every year since the end of elementary school. You have to grind all day at school and work on homework all night, but that's all you've ever known. Once you get to college or start working full-time, you realize just how rotten your high school experience really was. I know high schoolers don't like adults to say that life gets better after high school because it's so trite, so I won't say that. All I'm saying is that these high school memes might make the long days sitting on a desk listening to boring teachers a bit more tolerable. Just don't get caught scrolling in class.

Shady IT Department Forces Applicants To Quit Their Current Jobs, Immediately Eliminates The Job The

Applying for a new job while you're still employed is a tricky process. It's difficult to know what order you should do things in, especially when a prospective new job wants you to begin as soon as humanly possible. You can risk putting in your two-week notice before you get an offer letter, but that's not very smart. Even if you 100% think you've got the job and just have to sign your offer letter, you should wait until that letter is in front of you and signed before making a rash decision.

One IT worker recently went viral on Reddit for sharing the story of a company stealing and then discarding another company's workers. The shady company would tell their applicant they needed to quit their current job right away so they could start ASAP, and when the applicants did that, the jobs they were applying for suddenly disappeared.

"Beefing with babies": Millennials Roast Gen Z Nostalgia Bait as Evidence That Zoomers Are Becoming

Only 90s kids will remember how seemingly every generation loves to get older and do nostalgia posting. Boomers have their cringey Facebook memes, and millennials cling to those Instagram accounts that generate all their engagement through whacking a defunct brand of toy or junk food on a 1080x1080 square and calling it a day. Heck, even the perennially forgotten Gen Xers have their moment in the sun with their own 'remember when' type posts.

Realistically speaking, it was only a matter of time before the youth of today got in on the act. The oldest Zoomers are now the wrong side of 25, and they've started looking down on the people that are going to take their place. When a Gen Z TikToker made a condescending video claiming that "2000s kids" had far better animated movies than children in 2023, millennials and their younger peers unanimously dismissed the move as cringe. If this is enough to rile up the Zoomer Boomers, then nobody mention Skibidi Toilet around them.

20+ Soup Memes That Celebrate the King of Edible Liquids

There are so many different positive qualities about the miracle that is soup. It's comforting, it can be made in just about every flavor under the sun, and it's one of the easiest ways of sneaking extra vegetables into our diet (even if we're fussy). It's also a great excuse to eat half a loaf of bread, and act like that's kind of healthy.

Just like diehard stoners with weed, soup devotees will tell you that if you don't like soup, you just haven't tried the right type yet. Some may accuse the average soup lover of acting a like a cult member, but can you blame them? When a food type inspires memes like this, you know it's got to be good. As those of us heading into fall and winter seek out the food to make our seasonal blues go away, soup is near the top of the list. The humor is just here to remind us of that.

'People legit thought computers would end us': Older generations weigh in on what today's youngsters

It's pretty common to make assumptions about a generation you didn't experience firsthand, especially when you've seen it portrayed in movies and on TV. What does Gen Z really know about the 80s? What does Gen X know about the 50s? Even though we might hear stories from our relatives or watch some retro flicks, our minds tend to gravitate toward what Hollywood has shown us.

Well, some wise old folks on Reddit decided to set the record straight. They hopped on a thread that asked, "What do young people get completely wrong about past decades?" And their responses are pretty eye-opening. From their thoughts on old-school music to smoking being a social norm, and even the whole living wage debate, these Redditors are dropping some wisdom about the past that today's youngsters just flat out don't get.

So, was life better back then? Or is it better now? Well, that's a never-ending debate, my friend. No matter which generation you belong to, you'll definitely gain some insights by diving into this thread below.

20+ Hilarious Sci-Fi Memes to Fill Your Nerdy Needs (October 16, 2023)

Welcome back, geeks. It's time for another roundup of some of our favorite science fiction memes full of nerdy references to some of the best sci-fi movies ever made. Speaking of which, when was the last time you re-watched The Matrix?  That movie was released in 1999 and yet it still holds up amazingly well. I watched The Matrix over the weekend and even though I've literally seen it hundreds of times and despite all of its iconic 90s tropes, the movie still felt fresh and ahead of its time. Watching The Matrix also made me realize that we should totally bring back PVC clothing and tiny micro-sunglasses. Sometimes it feels like we as a society have brought about all the worst qualities of a techno-dystopia without any of the cool cyberpunk aesthetics, and I think that needs to change.

Anyway, if you're an unabashed fan of the science fiction genre, you're going to love this week's otherworldly collection of dank sci-fi memes. Enjoy.
