I've been saying that all weekend. Know why? It's because I'm in hanging out in New York this weekend and singing at Carnegie. No, not the Carnegie Deli silly people....THE CARNEGIE HALL. Ok, so I'm gloating. But just a little. I'm saving the real gloating for my next post. From London. :)
So anyway I promised myself I would blog my trip because I'm generally lazy about that sort of thing. And here I am. I hope this isn't too boring.
Friday we hauled all our crap to the airport and when I checked in my bag was 6 lbs over the weight limit. (What a surprise - I had 6 pairs of shoes in there including my club boots which weigh a ton) I ended up having to rearrange things between my checked bag and carry on to avoid paying $80 (!) for the weight overage. I threatened to wear the big boots on the next flight which would of course have security interested since they're covered in buckles. But I digress....
Unsurprisingly our flight was delayed. And one of our other groups flight's was canceled! Why Delta would cancel an entire flight on ASO musicians on their way to Carnegie Hall is beyond me. I mean, between us and the orchestra, there are 225 (+/-) of us and we're taking three of our flights with them. Idiots.
The stage at Carnegie is small so we're packed like sardines up there, especially because we're doing two pieces with heavy percussion. We even had the wind machine trucked up. The concert itself was a resounding success. Thunderous applause for us, especially the chorus. When I find the reviews I'll link them.
Well time to catch a plane to London! Until my next post, here's a picture of me and Tom outside Carnegie after our rehearsal yesterday.
