    I'm blogging this...
    I've been saying that all weekend. Know why? It's because I'm in hanging out in New York this weekend and singing at Carnegie. No, not the Carnegie Deli silly people....THE CARNEGIE HALL. Ok, so I'm gloating. But just a little. I'm saving the real gloating for my next post. From London. :)

    So anyway I promised myself I would blog my trip because I'm generally lazy about that sort of thing. And here I am.  I hope this isn't too boring.

    Friday we hauled all our crap to the airport and when I checked in my bag was 6 lbs over the weight limit. (What a surprise - I had 6 pairs of shoes in there including my club boots which weigh a ton) I ended up having to rearrange things between my checked bag and carry on to avoid paying $80 (!) for the weight overage. I threatened to wear the big boots on the next flight which would of course have security interested since they're covered in buckles. But I digress....

    Unsurprisingly our flight was delayed. And one of our other groups flight's was canceled! Why Delta would cancel an entire flight on ASO musicians on their way to Carnegie Hall is beyond me. I mean, between us and the orchestra, there are 225 (+/-) of us and we're taking three of our flights with them. Idiots.

    The stage at Carnegie is small so we're packed like sardines up there, especially because we're doing two pieces with heavy percussion. We even had the wind machine trucked up. The concert itself was a resounding success. Thunderous applause for us, especially the chorus. When I find the reviews I'll link them.

    Well time to catch a plane to London! Until my next post, here's a picture of me and Tom outside Carnegie after our rehearsal yesterday.

    Photo Post
    Quick post with photos collected of the downtown tornado (mostly for the out-of-town peeps who were so nice to check up on me when they heard what had happened). Scary stuff, kids. Scary stuff.

    Tornado is in the center of this photo. I need that little emoticon with the bulging eyes right about now...

    Hi! I'm just a few blocks down from where Michelle works! Whee! :o

    Look at all the windows blown out on these towers! Fun trivia: Michelle had dinner with her inlaws at the top of that Westin (far left -with the great EXTERNAL GLASS ELEVATOR!!!!) just two days before the tornado hit. And the Equitable building on the far right? Across the freaking street from Michelle's work! It's still police taped off and the street is closed...

    Speaking of that GLASS ELEVATOR!!!!111...I hope nobody was in it when the storm hit!

    </div>
    And now a la Boing Boing, I submit a chaser!
    Oh, hai guys! I'm cute! Don't think about scary tornadoes anymore....

    I'm just helping mom play World of Warcraft....use the Pyroblast on that mob mom!!!!

    This is Neil (Gaiman) by the way....who was adopted by my mom and now lives with her.

    Uber Update Post
    I've been really busy and apathetic at the same time so I haven't posted a ton of things that I wanted to recently. So here it is, all at once.

    First, I got a haircut. Here's a before - me and the lovely sewinggoddess

    Then magically, my frumpiness was dissolved with a cut and color - here's me and my stylist, Noreen. If any of you local gals (or guys - she does Adam's hair too) need a good stylist, she's teh win. It's a bit of a trek to her shop but worth it.  And her prices are VERY reasonable.

    I went to a BPAL sniffy at Harry's in Alpharetta on Sunday. They carry a small selection of items but they said they can order anything from the Lab and get it within a week! Woot! Anyway, there were about 15 people there with their imps/bottles and I probably sniffed about 150 things that night. Talk about nose overload. But, in the end I found some things that I'm going to order imps for on my next go-round. If anyone on my flist has an imp of these that they don't want I can do a trade or buy it off you if you're game.

    Imp's I plan to order:

    Diary of a Lovestruck Teenage Cannibal
    Alice
    Bliss
    Dorian
    Blood Lotus
    Smut
    Hamadryad
    Saw Scaled Viper
    Shadwell (Good Omens)
    Green Phoenix
    Carnal
    Boomslang
    Kindly Moon
    Seralgio

    Also I saw a couple of people with the lavalieres (scent lockets) and they look really cool - I really like the Carnival Diabolique. I may have to put one of those on my wishlist - they're $70 though!! Ouch! </div>
    I finished Irene's underdress for "Susan". I won't be hemming it until a month before con because she's growing like a weed. I really need to get my butt moving on the green overdress but I'm lacking motivation to do anything but play WoW lately. I think maybe I just work better under pressure. :o

    wannabegamedev made a delicious tart a couple months back and I've been meaning to post it here. I highly recommend making this. SOO good. Let me know if you want the recipe.

    </div>
    There's retarded signage on my daily commute home. I'd been meaning to take a picture to post and finally got around to it. So do you want me to "Keep Moving" or do you want me to "Yield"?

    </div> Squee self explanatory. I bought tickets for wannabegamedev's birthday to see Eddie Izzard. :o (Side Note: I freaking hate TicketBastard. The fees are outrageous. And then, they charge you more fees on top of that. Yes, I know I can bypass them but it's not convenient for me to do so with this show. I'm never in Cobb to go to the boxoffice. Plus these tickets are in presale and I wanted to get good seats. Anyway, TicketBastard sucks.)

    </div>
    I know there's more stuff but now I can't remember what. I guess I'll post it as I remember.

    It's mah birthday soon and I'm having a party! Details here. Let me know if you want to be added to the evite!

    Host:  Michelle Belle Isle
    Location:  Michelle & Adam's house
    336 Jordan Drive, Tucker, GA

    It's my birthday!!!! Ok, it's not until the 29th but as I have a prior engagement that evening (boo...), I'm celebrating a week early! So come join me and my fellow Aries in a grand celebration and evening of debauchery.

    Party starts at 7pm. Come one, come all. Bring your friends. Bring your party hats. We'll provide some yummies and some adult beverages but feel free to bring anything else you might like.

    To cut or not to cut....
    Well, as predicted by my hairdresser, I'm growing restless with this long(er) boring hair. So I'm thinking about getting it cut again. For those of you who have known me for awhile I've usually sported a shorter 'do ranging from full on pixies to sleek bobs.

    So the question is - To Cut? Or Not?

    Here's some photos of me from the past with short hair:

    (Pixie)

    (Somewhat of a Bob)

    (Standard Boy-cut)

    And my frumpy hair nowadays pulled back into a ponytail as I always do now... (and my handsome hubby!)

    Finally, here's a super blurry photo of a haircut that I took on the sly with my camera at Borders so I wouldn't have to buy the whole mag for the one picture. I would get this exact cut and color most likely if I do decide to chop.

    So, WHAT SAY YOU ALL? CHOP? OR NOT?!</div>

    ACE Review and Pictures!
    Well, the 2nd annual Atlanta Comics Expo has come and gone and I'm still alive. I was a busy woman during the con, speaking on several panels, entering various costume contests and hanging out with some great people. This is a fairly long entry so I've broken it up into several bite-sized pieces...

    The con started on Friday at 1:00 with me (far right), allison_smiley (middle below) and another costumer, Pam, leading a panel called "But I can't sew!". It was a very small crowd for this one being the first panel and it still being Friday and all.  Here we are showing a young lady how to thread a sewing machine.  I'm over there sewing itty ittty itty bitty superhero capes for some trophies.

    Later that day, the three of us again did a costume panel, this time called "It's in the details" which appropriately enough is about detailing costumes. Who'da thunk?

    I skipped out on the Zombie Luau because I hadn't seen my husband all week and also because I needed to get my WoW on. :P
    </div>
    Saturday was pretty relaxed, fortunately. Our first panel wasn't until 4pm but I wanted to be there early to see the lovely Christina do her panel on the art of corsetry. "The ties that bind". I'm going to stalk that girl until she does a class for us on drafting from measurements. ;) Woot.

    After our panel, called on entering costume contests, we actually gave a costume contest. I was supposed to wrangle folks for the costume track but since the con is still a baby, I was asked to enter my costume just to add numbers and eye candy. I was a little nervous about entering because if I happened to win, I wouldn't be able to compete at novice anymore but would have to move to journeyman. As I just don't feel that my work is ready for that, I was relieved when three (really awesome I might add) comic book costumes won. It was a comic book victory!

    I don't have any pictures of my costume from ACE so here's a picture of the same costume at DragonCon last year. Only difference was that I didn't wear my wig since I have to reset it into that style. So, pretend this picture came from this weekend...

    </div>
    Sunday was last day of con and an early morning (10am) contest for us. Several of our guild members (The SouthEastern Costumer's Society -aka- SECS Fiends) had been asked to compete in the "Iron Costumer" competition. If you've ever seen "Iron Chef" you have the general idea of how this goes. We flipped a coin against the other team (Team Terror - from Psycho Shak Haunted House) and won the right to costume the Hero while they costumed the Villian.

    A theme was chosen at random from submissions by con-goers over the weekend. The winning theme was "Space Pirates"!!! Also, they revealed the "secret ingredient" to us which turned out to be a roll of "Blaze Orange" Duck Tape. We were so thrilled that it was duck tape that we jumped up and down. :)

    We then had 60 minutes to construct our costume based on the theme and using at least 50% materials that were provided for the contest. Everything else we used could come from what we brought. So, 60 minutes later, the live costuming battle was over and the winner was.....

    TEAM HEMMING NINJAS!!!

    Team Hemming Ninjas prepare for battle! (Yours truly on the far right...and NO, allison_smiley is NOT naked in this picture. She's wearing a nude bodysuit for construction purposes. ;))

    The winning contest entry - Captain Blaze Orange!!! Hoorah!!

    Captain Blaze Orange and Team Hemming Ninjas.

    All in all, it was a fun con experience, even if I spent the majority of the con behind a table or my sewing machine. I feel highly motivated to move on the costume list for DragonCon now, so keep an eye on this blog for updates on the 7 costumes of death!</div>
