Mist Will Fade.
Somehow, Jet hadn't quiet understood why it was that Topaz always seemed so tired the day after Liam had come, more than any other day. He hadn't been able to meet the mercenary before, but he had thought that, seeing a friendly face among the ocean of strangers, would be something nice and refreshing.
He sighed a little when, after his bath the day after Aidan and Liam had been there, when the day was finally over, Topaz was alone over a corner, covers already drawn tight around himself.
Usually, it was either Jade or Onyx the ones that comforted anyone sad, or Jasper would try to cheer them up in that loud way of his. But Jade had been going with a client to one of the rooms when Jet finished with his last client, Onyx was already a dark tangle of covers, sleeping with an arm over his eyes, and Jasper was happily moaning by a side of the room.
He thought he could understand it better, the way Topaz' eyes seemed broken, if only a little, because he had, somehow, forgotten that after being very happy one felt, after that, quiet contentment and, after that, one felt alone.
So Jet picked up a cover for himself and sidestepped where Jasper was arching, and sat down next to Topaz, who looked up and offered him a wan smile.
"I sleep here?" Jet asked, and he was rewarded by a somewhat bigger smile as Topaz nodded and lifted his cover. Jet spread his over them both and then moved inside Topaz arms, and even if he wasn't Liam, he was pretty certain that being with someone who also missed him (and Aidan, but Topaz hadn't been lucky enough to spend several months with them, Jet thought) would make Topaz feel better.
It was making him feel better, after all.

So these days, they're able to have whole conversations just with glances. Aidan almost thinks it's uncool all this, the way when they walk through the street markets and gypsies offer charms and jewels, they both glance towards them, if only for a second.
He raises an eyebrow. Earrings or a ring?
He smirks when Liam rolls his eyes, his very own 'Look who's speaking?' and then pretends to ignore him. He's probably getting earrings, Aidan thinks with a grin.
Really, he's quite grateful that this part of them is kept private. Watching Liam's eyes soften at the way he looks some of those jewels wouldn't make him seem like the Big Bad Barbarian he looks like anymore.
If he has to be honest with himself (which he tries to avoid as much as possible, thank you), he'd admit that how he looks at some of the charms the gypsy has, a smooth gray stone that is engraved with a character he thinks he remembers seeing in Qijin, it also makes him lose a lot of the 'fiercest Barbarian' name he should be trying to live up to.
He really, really, really hopes that no future client sees them like this. It'll be bad enough, he reckons, next time Jet looks at him with that flirty little grin of his.
